a quirky mole

I have decided to separate my general collectables and antiques on Tildasattic from my antiquarian books. So with that in mind I have chosen a name for my bookshop on Etsy :- quirkymolebooks.
The name may take a little explanation - quirk has a number of meanings, in addition to the odd, endearing characteristic and a twist of fate, it can also mean a flourish in writing. Mole on the other hand is my favourite character from a book ( Wind in the Willows ) I fell in love with the first time I read it when I was three. I have a number of copies including a first edition my grandfather gave me for my 21st birthday.
Now all I have to do is enjoy getting some stock together and hopefully open my shop by the end of the month.

Books, books and more books

I love books, I mean really adore them and have done since I was taught to read by an older cousin one rainy summer long before I started school. I knew there were others who were as enchanted by books and reading, and when I read this passage in The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon I knew I had found a true kindred spirit:-
" Every book, every volume has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it, and lived and dreamed with it. Everytime a book changes hands, everytime someone runs his eyes down its pages, it's spirit grows and strengthens."
Given my long term love affair with books I think they will probably take centre stage in my Etsy shop. The only problem I can foresee is actually being able to let them go, I may ask for references from a customer to make sure " my " books are going to a good home!

All kinds of everything

I grew up surrounded by the most beautiful collectable, vintage and antique objects, everything from furniture to artwork. That is probably why I have continued to collect and enjoy living with things that have a history and a story to tell. The thrill of discovery and the pleasure of researching the past of my latest find never palls.
With that in mind I thought it was high time I turned a passion into a little business and started to sell on Etsy, naming my new shop Tildasattic after a great aunt who shared and encouraged my interest.
